Anniversary of Buddhist Federation of Korea Marked
Pyongyang, December 26 (KCNA) -- A meeting took place here on Saturday to mark the 64th anniversary of the founding of the Buddhist Federation of Korea.

Present there were office bearers of the Central Committee of the federation and its provincial, city and county committees and chief priests of temples in different parts of the country and monks and Buddhists in Pyongyang.

Sim Sang Jin, chairman of the Central Committee of the federation who is most venerable, made a report.

He reviewed the path covered by the federation over the last 64 years, fully enjoying the freedom of a religious life under the care of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il since its founding. He referred to the achievements made in the cooperation and exchanges between the Buddhists of the north and the south for building a thriving nation and implementing the June 15 joint declaration and in the involvement in the actions for national reunification.

He called upon all the Buddhists to make a tangible contribution to the efforts for opening the gate to a thriving nation in 2012 true to the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il. He also underlined the need for them to achieve Dharma-minded concord and energetically turn out in the actions against the treacherous and anti-reunification acts of the south Korean authorities and ultra-right conservative forces that pushed the inter-Korean relations to catastrophe though they had favorably developed.
