The Communist Party of India (Marxist) in its statement on Jan. 2 said: The Party Central Committee is convinced that the Korean people will achieve greater successes in the work to carry through the tasks set forth in the joint editorial for this year and improve the people's standard of living.

The hostile relations between the DPRK and the U.S. should be terminated and a durable peacekeeping system established on the Korean Peninsula through dialogue and negotiation in order to ensure peace and stability of the peninsula and the region, it stressed.

The secretary of the Indian National Congress in a statement on Jan. 1 wished the Korean people success in their efforts to realize the independent and peaceful reunification of the country on the basis of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration.

Dag Norum, chairman of the Ostfold County Committee of the Communist Party of Norway, in his statement on Jan. 2 confirmed invariable support and solidarity with the efforts of the DPRK government, hoping that it would bring about an epochal turn in radically improving the people's standard of living and register big success in the efforts to realize the great unity of the Korean nation and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country this year.
