Joint New Year Editorial Supported in Foreign Countries
Pyongyang, January 9 (KCNA) -- Reading sessions on the joint New Year editorial of the newspapers of the party, the army and the youth of the DPRK titled "Bring about a radical turn in the people's standard of living by accelerating the development of light industry and agriculture once again this year that marks the 65th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea" were held in India and Pakistan on Jan. 3 and 4.

Speeches were made there.

B. C. Gupta, chairman of the Juche Idea Study Society of Delhi of India, gave a detailed account of the joint New Year editorial, expressing belief that the Korean people would achieve greater successes in their work for building a great prosperous and powerful nation and the independent and peaceful reunification of the country in this significant year.

Akrak Aktar Hamidi, chairman of the Society for the Study of Self-Reliance of Pakistan, said that the DPRK has safeguarded socialism and dynamically advanced along the road of building a thriving nation because General Secretary Kim Jong Il has wisely led the Korean people with the original Songun politics.

Mohammad Aslam Nagi, secretary general of the Lahore Branch of the Pakistan-Korea Friendship Association, reiterated full support and solidarity with the Korean people in their struggle for the reunification of the country, adding that the DPRK is the only country in the world which is waging a resolute struggle against the U.S. imperialists.
