Japan's Moves for Nuclear Weaponization Slashed
|
|
Pyongyang, January 9 (KCNA) -- Shortly ago, a confidential document on nuclear weapons agreed upon between Japan and the United States in 1969 was discovered in the house of Sato, former prime minister of Japan. The document says that "in crucial contingency" the U.S. shall have a "prior consultation" with Japan and introduce nuclear weapons into Okinawa or its warships with nuclear weapons aboard shall have the right to have transit through Okinawa for the "defense of the Far East" including Japan and it shall promptly respond to any U.S. request. It is also stipulated in the document that the U.S. shall be allowed to use the nuclear arsenal, etc. in Okinawa any time even after its return to Japan. Rodong Sinmun Saturday in a signed commentary observes in this regard: The recently disclosed confidential document lays bare the black-hearted true colors of Japanese reactionaries playing a double game, seized with brazen-faced ambition for overseas expansion. This once again clearly testifies to the hypocrisy of the "three non-nuclear principles" touted by them. The Japanese reactionaries have stepped up their moves for nuclear weaponization behind the smokescreen of the "three non-nuclear principles," the commentary notes, and goes on: Japan made a number of secret nuclear promises with the U.S. in the past under the disguise of the so-called "prior consultation." These facts were brought to light through various channels but Japan has persistently denied them. Japan is the only country that has desperately worked to go nuclear with an eye to invade other countries, advocating the above-said principles. Japan is seeking a war, not peace, and leaving no means untried to realize its scenario for reinvasion. The above-mentioned moves of Japan for nuclear weaponization are as foolish as precipitating its self-destruction. The Japanese reactionaries would be well advised to drop their nuclear ambition, bearing this deep in mind. |
