The statement referred to the fact that on the same day the "Ministry of Unification" disallowed the confederation delegation's request for visit to Pyongyang under such pretexts as "the present situation of south-north relations and guarantee of safety" and "maintenance of order".

This behavior is intended to hinder and stifle the cooperation and exchange between workers in the south and the north, it pointed out, urging the present "government" to immediately stop the suppression of the non-governmental reunification movement and open the way of the confederation to Pyongyang.

It warned that the authorities will be bound to meet a miserable end if they continue to take the road of confrontation, persistently denying the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration supported by all the fellow countrymen.

The confederation will continue to promote the cooperation and exchange for implementing the said declarations despite the authorities' crackdown and consolidate the mass foundation for reconciliation and unity and co-prosperity of the nation by expanding the movement for reunification on industrial and regional terms, the statement declared.
