The declaration underlined the need to put an end to the sufferings of national division imposed by foreign forces and confrontation and usher in a new era of independence, unity, peace and reunification, saying that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the publication of the historic June 15 joint declaration.

It recalled that after the publication of the inter-Korean joint declaration all Koreans have conducted the strenuous struggle for peace and reunification under the banner of "By our nation itself", meeting every challenge of the separatist forces.

The present "government's" anachronistic hostile policy towards the DPRK is blocking the advance of the era, it charged, warning that the authorities will be bound to face a stern punishment by all the fellow countrymen desirous of peace and reunification if they continue to deny the south-north joint declarations and persist in the policy of confrontation with fellow countrymen.

The declaration called for greeting June 15 this year with a nationwide event common to the Koreans in the south and the north and overseas, decisively improving the south-north relations and more vigorously launching the reunification movement by the concerted efforts of the nation.
