Pyongyang, January 18 (KCNA) -- The joint New Year editorial published by leading newspapers of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea calls for launching an all-Party, nationwide effort to improve the people's living standard considerably this year that marks the 65th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea. In response to the call, light industry factories throughout the country have sharply increased production with plans worked out in a concrete form from the beginning of the year. Deeply aware that light industry is a major front for the improvement of the people's living, their officials have actively organized and directed the production activities, giving precedence to the supply of raw materials to keep production on a high level. In particular, the Pyongyang Textile Mill, the Huichon Silk Mill, the Taedonggang Foodstuff Factory and the Hoeryong Essential Foodstuff Factory, given field guidance by General Secretary Kim Jong Il last year, have taken effective measures to mass-produce quality consumer goods and materials. The workers and technicians of the factories, conscious that the variety and quality of goods should be augmented for the betterment of the people's living, have strictly observed technical rules and standard regulations, fully displaying the collectivist spirit of helping and leading each other forward. In the flames of the effort for building a thriving nation, the Pyongyang Cornstarch Factory, the Pyongyang Leather Shoes Factory and the Sinuiju Cosmetics Factory have concentrated on radically raising the quality of goods to suit the developing tendency of the time and the growing demands of the consumers. Goods mass-produced by light industry factories across the country are popular among the people. |
