In the work he noted that it was very important for the officials of the then State Light Industry Commission to enhance their role and loyalty to the Workers' Party of Korea, to the working class and to the people and equip themselves with correct guiding methods.

He called for taking special measures to attain the textile output goal of the seven-year plan, mass-producing sundry goods and bettering the quality of light industry goods including clothes and footwear.

He also noted foodstuff industry should be extensively developed to process meat, vegetables, fish and fruits well in time.

What he instructed in the work provides a glimpse of his strenuous thoughts and efforts dedicated to the betterment of the people's living.

The President, who set it as the WPK's overriding principle in its activities to steadily improve the people's living standard, wisely steered the efforts for consolidating the production potentials of light industry.

The Korean people have turned out as one in an all-Party, nationwide campaign for implementing the tasks put forward in the joint New Year editorial, published by leading newspapers of the country, for mass-producing consumer goods in line with the Party's policy of effecting a radical turn in light industry.

It is the firm determination and will of the WPK to realize without fail the noble intention and desire of the President, who devoted his heart and soul to the people all his life.

The Korean people, true to the behest of the President, will surely make this a year of a drastic turn in improving the people's living standard, a prosperous year filled with the people's happiness, under the leadership of the great Party.
