"Let the entire nation unite under the banner of north-south joint declarations and achieve national reunification at the earliest date!", a slogan set forth in the joint New Year editorial, reflects the strong faith and will of the Korean nation to steadily glorify the dignified history of the June 15 era of reunification and lead it to accomplishing the cause of independent reunification by making a signal advance in the movement for national reunification this significant year marking the 10th anniversary of the publication of the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, the article notes, and says:

Over the last decade the Korean nation has deeply realized the validity and vitality of the north-south joint declarations, the one and only great programme for independent reunification and the invincible banner that should be always upheld till the day when the cause of national reunification is accomplished.

In order to give steady continuity to the drive for independent reunification, peace and prosperity ushered in by the June 15 era of reunification, it is necessary, above all, to wage a vigorous struggle against the separatists obstructive to it at home and abroad.

Without staunch struggle against the anti-reunification moves, is it impossible to prevent the precious achievements, gained by the Koreans in the movement for national reunification in the said era, from being vanished. It is an urgent demand of the reality to meet the ceaseless anti-reunification challenges and powerfully accelerate the advance of the said era.

What is important in pushing forward the advance of the June 15 era of reunification is to achieve the alliance and solidarity among the fellow countrymen in the north and the south and abroad and the great unity of the entire nation under the banner of "By our nation itself".

To strengthen the great unity of the entire nation serves as a fundamental guarantee for the pro-reunification patriotic forces to overpower the separatist forces and intensify the movement for national reunification.

Vicious are the moves of the separatist forces at home and abroad to block the advance of the June 15 era of reunification, but they can never break the desire and will of the Koreans to achieve the independent reunification and national prosperity through the implementation of the north-south joint declarations. It is irresistible inevitability that the pro-reunification patriotic forces prevail over the separatist forces to emerge victorious.
