Present there were office-bearers of the Central Committee of the Buddhist Federation of Korea and those of the provincial, city and county committees of the federation and priests, monks and believers of different temples.

Speeches were made and prayers for national reunification were read out at the masses.

Speakers said that they are marking the Day of Buddha's Attainment of Great Wisdom at a time when all the people across the country have turned out in a vigorous struggle to bring about a radical turn in improving the people's standard of living amid the high-pitched drive for effecting a great revolutionary surge in response to the joint New Year editorial.

All the Buddhists in the north and the south of Korea should give momentum to the atmosphere of improving the inter-Korean relations and achieving reconciliation, cooperation and unity this year marking the 10th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 joint declaration and the 30th anniversary of the proposal for the founding of the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo, upholding the slogan "Let the entire nation unite under the banner of north-south joint declarations and achieve national reunification at the earliest date!", they stressed.

They called upon the entire Korean nation to accelerate the nationwide grand march for reunification while frustrating all challenges of the anti-reunification forces with the concerted efforts and thus brilliantly glorify 2010 as a year of opening a new phase of independent reunification.
