Study Tour of School Youth and Children Starts

Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) -- School youth and children from across the country started their study tour for 1,000-ri journey for national liberation to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the 1,000-ri journey for national liberation traveled by President Kim Il Sung and the 35th anniversary of the first study tour to trace its course organized by General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

A meeting for starting the tour took place at Mangyongdae Revolutionary School on Friday.

Present there was Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea.

The participants in the tour laid a floral basket and bunches of flowers before the statue of the President at the school and paid tribute to him.

Ri Yong Chol, first secretary of the C.C., the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, in a report at the meeting stressed that in the 1,000-ri journey of revolution the members of the tour group should clearly show the true looks of the school youth and children who display the spirit of devotedly defending the leader while steadily inheriting the lineage of Mangyongdae, the lineage of Mt. Paektu.

The group, made up of more than 1,000 persons, left Mangyongdae, a sacred place of revolution, amid the warm send-off by school youth and children and working people in the city of Pyongyang. It will arrive in Phophyong, a land of historic significance, through Kaechon, Hyangsan, Kanggye, Hwaphyong and other places.
