Put on the stage were graceful, dynamic and merry folk dances and music pieces including female folk solo "We Always Remember All Sorts of Hardships Undergone by the Leader", song and dance "Cuckoo", "Beautiful Hometown" and "Song of the Days of the Week" and female trio singing of folk song "Ongheya of Victory of Songun".

The performers enthusiastically sang of the truly happy life the Korean people enjoy under the loving care of Kim Jong Il and truthfully represented the firm faith and will of the servicepersons and people to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche and the cause of building a thriving socialist nation without fail under the uplifted great banner of Songun.

Through the peculiar performance, they powerfully demonstrated the might of rapidly efflorescing folk music and dances.

At the end of the performance Kim Jong Il warmly waved back to the enthusiastically cheering performers and audience and congratulated the artistes on their successful presentation.

He expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the creators and artistes of the art troupe staged a splendid performance with songs and dances of Korean style. He extended high appreciation and thanks to them for their success in the performance.

He said that the State Folk Art Troupe is a merited art organization with a long history as it has created and staged many music and dance pieces suited to the emotion and sentiment of the Korean people in the past true to the WPK's Juche-oriented literary and art idea and line, thus making a positive contribution to the development of the national culture and art and the education of the people in patriotism. He highly appreciated the feats performed by the creators and artistes in creating art.

Very pleased to learn that the young artistes who have just graduated from a university, in particular, displayed high artistic skills, he noted that the prospect of the Juche-oriented art is immensely rosy as the tradition of folk music and dance is being steadfastly carried forward by such revolutionary and talented reserve artistes.

He said that it is the consistent policy of the WPK to create many folk cultural and art works national in forms and socialist in contents, underscoring the need for the creators and artistes to create more excellent works in line with the requirements of the era of Songun and thoughts and feelings of the Korean people by displaying great creative enthusiasm and thus become genuine creators and ardent defenders of socialist culture and art.

He set forth important tasks which would serve as guidelines for creating art, noting that the above-said art troupe has an important role to play in carrying forward and developing the national cultural heritage and Juche-oriented music.

Among the audience were department directors and first vice department directors of the WPK Central Committee and its other leading officials.
