The statement voiced invariable support for the political line of the DPRK government for peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Northeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region.

Calling for concluding a peace treaty aimed at terminating the state of war, the root cause of hostile relations, to begin with, in order to build confidence between the DPRK and the U.S., the statement said that the conclusion of a peace treaty is essential for durable peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and confidence between the two sides.

The statement pressed for the lifting of the unreasonable sanctions against the DPRK as they lay an obstacle in the way of ensuring peace and security on the peninsula.
