Kirunda Kivejinja, third deputy prime minister and minister of Internal Affairs, was elected chairman of the Ugandan committee and Jon Arni Halldorsson, general secretary of the Iceland-DPRK Friendship and Cultural Society, chairman of the Icelandic committee, at the inaugural ceremonies.

The committees decided to hold colorful political and cultural events including meetings, lectures and photo exhibitions on the occasion of the birthday of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
