NIS's Suppression of Democracy Censured in S. Korea
Pyongyang, February 4 (KCNA) -- Media and civic and public organizations of south Korea including the Media Action, the Confederation of Trade Unions, the Bar Association for Democratic Society and the Solidarity for Progress held a press conference in Youido, Seoul on Monday to lash out at the puppet National Intelligence Service's suppression of democracy.

The organizations at the conference accused the NIS of pressurizing a civic organization to cancel its projected event on the charge of its refusal to pay the license fee for the KBS which has been reduced to a trumpeter of the regime.

The organizations charged that the NIS has persisted in illegal investigation into civilians and human rights abuses as it is seized by the arrogant and self-righteous view that "those in power are allowed to behave as they please."

The Citizen's Solidarity for Democratic Society in its statement on the same day deplored that the illegal acts of the NIS are going beyond the tolerance limit under the present regime and demanded its Director Won Se Hun step down at once.
