The struggle for peace is not an issue pertaining to an individual country and people but a task common to all the countries and peoples desirous of a new independent world.

Preserving peace is a strategic task to be consistently carried out by people without a moment's negligence to build a new independent world.

What is important here is to oppose a war.

It is important requirements for defending peace at present to fight against the imperialists' blockade, sanctions and military blackmail against sovereign states.

The progressives in their efforts to build a new independent society and a new world should regard the imperialists' unjust interference in the internal affairs, sanctions and pressure as serious operations preceding military invasion and frustrate all those moves.

The members of the international community should refrain from such acts as tolerating or helping the imperialists' moves to apply sanctions and blockade against independent countries and put pressure on them. To join the imperialists' moves of sanctions and blockade for their immediate selfish purpose will lead them to ruining themselves.

No illusion should be harbored about the imperialists but decisive countermeasure be taken to deal with their war provocation moves. A country exposed to more threat of aggression by the imperialists should direct particular efforts into increasing national defence capability.

The army and people of the DPRK will increase the national capacity for self-defence in every way under the uplifted banner of Songun to defend peace on the Korean Peninsula and dynamically accelerate the building of a thriving socialist nation and thus make positive contributions to building an independent new world, the desire and wish of humankind, the article concludes.
