The statement said it is absolutely legitimate and logically proper that the DPRK, through the statement of its Foreign Ministry, recently proposed the parties concerned to the Armistice Agreement to start the talks for replacing the AA with a peace treaty as soon as possible.

The DPRK government has constantly made every possible effort to ensure peace, security and denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia true to the behests of President
Kim Il Sung, it noted.

The present situation of the Korean Peninsula and its vicinity proves that a key to solving the issue is to put an end to the state of war, the main source of the hostile relationship between the DPRK and the U.S., it said, adding that the urgent task is to conclude a peace treaty and this is a main link for solving all the pending issues.

It urged the parties concerned to the AA to immediately respond to the proposal of the DPRK.
