US Moves for MD Flayed in S. Korea

Pyongyang, February 8 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the Confederation of Trade Unions and the Solidarity for Progress in south Korea called a joint press conference in Seoul on Feb. 5 denouncing the U.S. for trying to plug south Korea into the missile defense(MD) system .

A press release read out at the press conference recalled that the U.S. Department of Defense on Feb. 1 opened to the public a "report on examining the ballistic missile defense plan" which contains the policy and strategies of the U.S. administration on the MD.

The press release held that the action taken by the U.S. with a hue and cry over the non-existent "threat from the north" reveals its black-hearted intention to plug south Korea into the U.S.-led MD in a bid to make it cover an astronomical amount of funds for building the missile shields.

It demanded an immediate stop to the moves to establish the MD which sparks off an arms race and runs counter to achieving peace on the Korean Peninsula.
