Technical Inventions Pay Off
Pyongyang, February 9 (KCNA) -- The effort for technical updating has been amply remunerated in economic sectors of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The February 8 Vinalon Complex has built an up-to-date production base of dyes and agricultural chemicals to bring about a radical turn in chemical industry of the country.

It has applied a computer-controlled system to its high pressure pump and spraying drier to suit its actual conditions, completing a new process of dyes production.

It has also built storing, measuring and filtering facilities needed for extensive production of quality agricultural chemicals, giving no negative effect to ecosystem.

A technical team of the Chonnaeri Cement Factory in Kangwon Province, with the help of scientists from the Mathematics Research Institute under the State Academy of Sciences, has established a new automatic monitoring and control system for the cement kiln.

The system increases the cement clinker output by 20-25 percent and decreases the fuel consumption by 12-14 percent per ton of clinker.

Scientists of the Computer Science Institute under the State Academy of Sciences and Pyongyang University of Agriculture have developed a CNC-based sower.

The machine, low in both manufacturing cost and fuel consumption, can sow such seeds as rice, wheat and barley in even unharrowed or unploughed fields.

The Ministry of Electronics Industry has invented an electricity-saving socket which turns the light on automatically when it senses darkness or a sound and turns it off after a while.

The State Academy of Sciences has directed efforts to such hi-tech projects as space development and seabed survey.
