S. Korea Blamed for Crackdown on Progressive Party
Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration of south Korea issued a statement on Feb. 7 to denounce the authorities for their crackdown upon the Democratic Labor Party (DLP).

The statement recalled that that day the police called out huge repressive forces including at least 750 riot policemen and plainclothes arrest group under the pretext of investigating what they called "suspected political activities" of the Teachers Union and the Government Employees Union to search and confiscate the Internet homepage of the DLP.

The statement branded this repressive action little different from that during the past dictatorial regime as a premeditated and politically-motivated crackdown perpetrated by the authorities to eliminate in advance the main force of the alliance for an anti-"government" struggle in the run-up to the "elections to the local self-governing bodies".

No matter how desperately the authorities may work to prolong the remaining days of their dictatorship, the people will certainly judge the present regime and the "Grand National Party" and bring democracy to south Korea, the statement declared.
