Kim Yong Nam Congratulates AU President
Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Wednesday sent a congratulatory message to Bingu Wa Mutharika, president of Malawi, upon his election as president of the African Union at the 14th ordinary session of the assembly of heads of state and government of the AU.

Convinced that the session offered an important occasion for achieving peace, security and political and economic integration of the continent and developing economic field including information and communications technology, Kim reiterated the firm will of the government and people of the DPRK to invariably boost the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation with the AU and its member states.

Kim sincerely hoped that through his active role the AU would make big success in preventing disputes and conflicts and promoting unity and cooperation among its member states and achieving the integration, peace and economic prosperity of the continent, guided by the spirit in which the AU promulgated 2010 as "year of peace and security of Africa".
