Since the publication of the June 15 joint declaration, the reunification programme common to the nation, the Korean nation has ushered in the new era of reconciliation and unity, and the movement for national reunification has developed into the nation-wide movement involving all Koreans in the south and the north and overseas, the statement said, and continued:

The present conservative ruling forces of south Korea, however, have checked visits, contacts and multilateral cooperation between the south and the north while totally denying the joint declaration and suppressed pro-reunification movement organizations and escalated confrontation, tension and war crisis on the Korean Peninsula.

The prevailing grave reality compels the Korean compatriots to meet the challenge of anti-reunification forces and turn out in the more nationwide movement for national reunification.

The committee will invariably defend and implement the inter-Korean declarations, the banner of patriotism.

It will do its utmost to successfully hold the joint national event marking the 10th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration as a nation-wide grand festival for reunification participated in by all political parties, organizations and figures of different strata in the south and the north and overseas, the statement stressed.
