Pyongyang, February 16 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il received a congratulatory message from the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) on Tuesday on the occasion of his birthday. The message noted that under the leadership of Kim Jong Il the DPRK has demonstrated its might as a political and ideological power of single-minded unity the world is envious of, a military power with tremendous self-defense capability no formidable enemy dares to attack and a scientific and technological power which pushes back the frontiers of science in the world, and it is now coming close to a thriving socialist nation desired so ardently by President Kim Il Sung by dynamically advancing toward the final victory in the confrontation with the United States and the eminence of an economic power. It referred to the fact that from the very day when he started his succession to the revolutionary cause of Juche, Kim Jong Il has taken warm care of Chongryon and the Korean residents in Japan as members of one family and shown all possible benevolent solicitude for them and wisely led Chongryon to display its honor as the pioneer of the overseas compatriots movement in the world in every stage of history. It further said: We, true to your noble idea and intention, will brilliantly adorn this year, which will see the 55th formation anniversary of Chongryon and the 22nd Congress of Chongryon, as a year of decisive turn in firmly laying the overall foundations for a new heyday of the movement of Koreans in Japan in the new century and a year of leaping in further developing the patriotic movement centered on the work for national education. We will actively join in the nationwide struggle to bring a new phase of the independent reunification of the country under the banner of "By our nation itself" and contribute to rejecting the Japanese authorities' hostile policy toward the DPRK and developing friendship between the peoples of the DPRK and Japan through enterprising external activities. |
