DPRK in Festive Mood

Pyongyang, February 16 (KCNA) -- The Korean people are celebrating the birthday of General Secretary Kim Jong Il with heartfelt gratitude and respect for him, who has wisely guided the effort for the building of a thriving nation on the basis of invincible Songun politics, exalting the dignity and power of Kim Il Sung's Korea. On this occasion diverse political events have taken place in Pyongyang and local areas. Among them are a national seminar on immortal leadership exploits of Kim Jong Il and meetings held in front of his old home in the Paektusan secret camp to vow loyalty to him. Entering February an increasing number of people have visited the Paektusan secret camp and theaters throughout the country have been busy with art performances, celebration meetings, etc. The 14th Kimjongilia Festival, the 19th International Figure Skating Festival for Paektusan Prize, a national photo exhibition, the 3rd National Pencil Drawing Festival and other functions are going on and people have enjoyed sports games and amusements, adding to the festive mood. Streets and public and apartment buildings are adorned with lanterns with words "February 16" and "Celebration", posters and large-sized electric picture boards. |
