The statement said:

We extend full support to the statement of the DPRK Foreign Ministry to replace the Armistice Agreement with a peace treaty.

Peace and security on the Korean Peninsula are an important issue related to global peace and security.

The process for the denuclearization of the peninsula sustained a setback because there was no confidence among the parties to the six-party talks.

If the AA is replaced with a peace treaty, confidence will be built between the DPRK and the U.S. and the process for the denuclearization of the peninsula be pushed forward at a rapid tempo.

We strongly urge the U.S. government to positively respond to the proposal of the DPRK for ensuring lasting peace on the peninsula.
