Pyongyang, February 18 (KCNA) -- According to data on weather observation in the period of the drive for a new great surge recently available from the Hydro-Meteorological Service, General Secretary Kim Jong Il made an endless forced march of high intensity for field guidance to every nook and corner of the country despite such unfavorable weather as boiling heat, biting cold, rainy wind and snowstorm. Last year he visited at least 200 units despite very unfavorable weather conditions. When he visited the Wonsan Youth Power Station and then Mt. Ryongak in January last year it was very cold and chilly wind over 10 meters per second howled. He covered a long tourist course, walking up icy and steep stairs. He visited the Ranam Coal Mining Machine Complex and other large-scale industrial bases and industrial establishments and other units in Manpho, Hoeryong and Wonsan cities despite snowy wind in February. The weather registered 20 degrees below zero when he gave field guidance to the Musan Mining Complex. The temperature dropped as low as 2-5 degrees below zero in the northern mountainous areas in spring of May, causing frost damage. He, however, continued his field guidance to Huichon, Komdok and Yonsa areas despite such extremely abnormal weather. He provided field guidance to the Pyongyang Textile Mill, Kim Jong Suk Naval University, the Songdowon Youth Open-Air Theatre, the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex and the February 8 Jiktong Youth Coal Mine in midsummer last year when it was the hottest since the decades' meteorological observation. He gave field guidance to the Kujang Fish Farm, changing his handkerchiefs wet with sweat several times due to sweltering weather. He visited a public service unit in the capital city, his casual dress wet with sweat as the maximum temperature in daytime registered 33 degrees centigrade. He visited the Tongbong Cooperative Farm in Hamju County, the Kumjingang Kuchang Youth Power Station, the construction site of the gasification process at the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex and units of the Korean People's Army in November when the temperature at noon was the lowest in 40 years. He called on the people in Jagang Province and the workers of the Songjin Steel Complex and the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex despite strong wind in the northern areas in December. He provided field guidance to a total of more than 30 units in the first 40 days of this year when biting cold persisted. When he visited again the construction site of the Huichon Power Station the temperature there registered 30 degrees below zero and there was strong wind 15 metres per second, the severest cold in 65 years. He made an endless forced march to the Jaeryong Mine, the construction site of Ryesonggang Youth Power Station No. 2, roads in North Phyongan Province, the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex and the Rakwon Machine Complex and other major units of the national economy. Thanks to the on-going dynamic march he is leading, deeming it as his pleasure to make all sorts of painstaking efforts to serve the Korean people, their ideals to lead a most bountiful and highly civilized life are being translated into brilliant realities one by one. |
