The statement noted that the army and people of the DPRK have defended socialism from every move of the imperialists for aggression under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.

The Communist Party of Sweden in the statement expressed full support for the Workers' Party Korea and the Korean people in their efforts to improve the people's standard of living by increasing production, realizing modernization and making scientific progress in industry and agriculture, protect the country from the U.S. imperialists' threats of war and nuclear weapons and reunify the country on the basis of the June 15 joint declaration.

Dag Norum and Torstein Engelskjon in the joint statement praised Kim Jong Il as a genius of creation and construction who is ushering in a new era of building a great prosperous and powerful nation with the treasured sword of Songun, adding that his Songun leadership serves as a decisive factor which made it possible for the DPRK to bring about a new turning point in socialist construction and the stirring realities in which a thriving nation is emerging, weathering great difficulties and stern trials.

It expressed belief that the Korean people would win only victories in their drive for safeguarding the socialist cause and building a great prosperous and powerful nation under the leadership of
Kim Jong Il.
