Stop to Projected Military Exercises Called for in S. Korea

Pyongyang, February 21 (KCNA) -- The Committee for Independent Reunification of the Solidarity for Progress in south Korea made public a statement on Feb. 18 in denunciation of the plan of the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet warmongers to stage war exercises targeted against the north.

The statement accused the south Korea-U.S. "Combined Forces Command" of announcing it would stage Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises across south Korea from March 8 to 18.

This saber-rattling to be staged pursuant to the "OPLAN 5027" became the target of strong condemnation by the Koreans every year as it was clear in the aim to invade the north, it said, adding:

The bellicose forces are staging almost every day maneuvers for mounting a preemptive attack on the north, while paying-lip service to "peace." With nothing can they justify this saber-rattling.

It urged the U.S. and the south Korean authorities to stop at once the exercises aiming at carrying out their scenarios for a war of aggression and scrap the "alliance" for aggression.
