Attending it were Kim Yong Il, Ri Yong Mu and Choe Thae Bok, leading officials of ministries and national institutions, party and people's committees and agricultural guidance organs in provinces, cities and counties, officials of farm primary organizations, model farmers, scientists and technicians in the field of agriculture and officials of relevant industrial establishments.

Prior to the meeting, the participants heard the recorded speech "Let Us Fully Apply the Juche Method of Farming to Bring About a New Upsurge in Agricultural Production" made by President Kim Il Sung at a national meeting of agricultural workers on Jan. 27, Juche 67 (1978).

Vice-Premier Kwak Pom Gi in his report referred to the fact that General Secretary Kim Jong Il, while successfully realizing the President's plan for the socialist rural construction, clearly indicated the way to be followed by agriculture in the era of Songun and has wisely led the drive to increase agricultural production.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of Kim Jong Il precious experience was gained in scientific farming and examples were set in potato farming, double cropping and bean farming, socialist spectacular sceneries in the era of Songun such as autumnal landscape in Migok Plain and landscape in the Taedonggang Combined Fruit Farm were unfolded and ideal villages were built in different parts of the country last year, he noted.

He said that last year's farming helped the officials and agricultural workers keenly realize the validity and vitality of the Party's policy of bringing about a radical turn in agriculture and reinforce the conviction that if they do farming as taught by Kim Jong Il, they can surely settle the food shortage of the country, the food problem of the people.

He underscored the need to successfully honor the plan for agricultural production by putting spurs to it once again this year and smoothly settle the food shortage of the country, the food problem of the people.

He called upon all the officials and working people in the field of agriculture to bring about a decisive turn in agricultural production this year under the slogan "All efforts for implementing the Party's policy of agricultural revolution!"
