WHO Assistant Director-general Praised DPRK's Healthcare
Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- Eric Laroche, assistant director-general of the World Health Organization, on a visit to the DPRK was interviewed by a KCNA reporter on Friday.

He said he was impressed by the advantageous socialist healthcare system in the DPRK wisely led by General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

Every Korean benefits from free medical care, he said, and went on:

There is a well-regulated healthcare system from the capital city to local areas.

Doctors call on sick people in the DPRK.

The state takes care of medical service in the DPRK.

The Korean people enjoy a happy life under the advantageous healthcare system.

I was impressed to witness the reality of the DPRK where an excellent health policy is in force.

Health institutions are providing medical service by dint of highly developed Koryo medicine. This is greatly contributing to the promotion of people's health.

Channeling efforts into the prophylactic treatment, the DPRK is meeting its need for varieties of medical equipment and efficacious medicines with those manufactured at home.
