On March 2, Juche 35 (1946) President Kim Il Sung, together with General Secretary Kim Jong Il and anti-Japanese heroine Kim Jong Suk, mounted Moran Hill to unfold the far-reaching plan for turning the mountains of the country into a thick woodland through massive planting of trees by all the people with patriotism.

On the occasion of the day, trade union members planted trees and flower trees of good species at Moran Hill, school youth and children at the April 15 Children's Flower Garden, agricultural workers at the Mangyongdae Revolutionary Site and women's union members at the Arboretum of the Central Botanical Garden.

Senior party and state officials, the chairperson of a friendly party and leading officials of working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions joined the working people of different strata and school youth and children in planting trees.

Tree-planting was also conducted by the Ministry of Railways and in provinces, cities and counties on the same day.
