Hamhung City celebrating the completion of the modern vinalon factory was wrapped in a festive mood.

Hamhung Square and its adjoining streets were crowded with hundreds of thousands of citizens from all walks of life of the city with bunches of flowers in their hands.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il was present at the rally.

He warmly waved back to the enthusiastically cheering masses and heartily congratulated the Hamhung citizens including the workers of the February 8 Vinalon Complex who performed shining labor feats in building the modern vinalon factory.

Present there were senior party, state and army officials Kim Yong Nam, Kim Yong Il, Kim Yong Chun, Choe Thae Bok, Yang Hyong Sop, Choe Yong Rim, Hong Sok Hyong, Kim Ki Nam, Kim Jong Gak and Kim Il Chol, Chairman of the C.C., the Korean Social Democratic Party Kim Yong Dae, vice-premiers of the Cabinet, chief secretaries of the provincial committees of the WPK, leading officials of the complex and heroes and labor innovators of Hamhung.

Present there on invitation were leading officials of the party and power organs, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, officials in the fields of science, education, culture and arts, public health and media and leading officials and persons of merit of the province and Hamhung.

Thae Jong Su, chief secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, delivered a report at the rally.

He said that the great success made in the vinalon industry which made excitement and joy prevail the whole country is the precious fruition of the might of the single-minded unity of Songun Korea where the leader believes in the people and the latter absolutely trusts and follows the former and the inexhaustible mental power of the army and the people of the DPRK filled with the strong spirit of self-respect of the nation, the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance and fortitude and the spirit of noble love and devotion to the future.

The world-startling event powerfully demonstrated the inexhaustible might of the self-supporting economy of Songun Korea pushing back the frontiers of science, looking at the world and fully showcased the valiant spirit of the heroic Korean working class dynamically advancing toward the high eminence of the victory of a thriving nation, resolutely frustrating the moves of the imperialists to isolate and stifle the DPRK, he noted.

He stressed that the WPK remains strong, the socialist country stands firm and the DPRK is sure to win a final victory in the drive for building a thriving nation as long as there are the ever-victorious Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il, the large contingent of the heroic workers including those in the field of the vinalon industry unfailingly loyal to the cause of the Party and the firm foundation of the self-supporting national economy.

Ri Hi Hon, director of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, and Ri Yong Ae, chairperson of the Management Board of the Tongbong Cooperative Farm in Hamju County, in their congratulatory speeches at the rally called upon the Party members and other working people across the country to advance more valiantly and faster to attain higher goals on all fronts for building an economic power with the same indomitable mental power and work style as displayed by the heroes produced by the field of the vinalon industry, rallied closer around the headquarters of the revolution headed by
Kim Jong Il, and thus honorably and proudly enter the square celebrating the October jubilee with a report on a shining victory to the mother Party.
