Referring to the fact that the Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises planned by the U.S. and the south Korean bellicose forces are arousing serious concern at home and abroad, the statement said that the exercises, to be staged under war scenarios including "OPLAN 5027" aimed at a preemptive attack on the DPRK, are evidently a saber-rattling against it.

To put an end to the war crisis and achieve peace on the Korean Peninsula is the desire of the entire nation and the task of the times which brooks no further delay, it said, urging the U.S. to cancel the plan for the joint military exercises and opt for concluding a peace treaty.

Earlier on March 5, the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification issued a statement bitterly denouncing the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet authorities for their scheme to plunge the Korean nation into disasters of a nuclear war through the disgusting joint military exercises.

The Pastors' Council for Realizing Justice and Peace, the Missionary Solidarity Council of Christian Society and other Christian organizations of south Korea called a press conference outside the U.S. embassy in Seoul on March 4 in protest against the projected exercises.
