Present there were the delegation of the North Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration led by Chairman An Kyong Ho, the delegation of the South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration headed by permanent representative Kim Sang Gun, and the delegation of the Overseas Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration led by Chairman Kwak Tong Ui.

At the meeting the chairmen were unanimous that the north-south summit in Pyongyang in June, 2000 and the publication of the June 15 joint declaration marked a historic event as it dispelled the distrust and confrontation between the north and the south and ushered in a new era of national reconciliation, unity and reunification.

The meeting discussed practical issues arising in bringing about a new phase of national unity and the country's reunification under the banner of the north-south joint declaration this year marking the 10th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 joint declaration.

According to the press release issued at the meeting, its participants decided to open with splendor an event common to the nation to commemorate the anniversary with representatives of all political parties and organizations and personages of different circles in the north, the south and abroad supporting the declaration attending.

It was agreed to hold a main meeting, a photo exhibition, inter-sector meeting, art performance and others under the program of the event.

It was also decided to hold colorful functions in the north, the south and abroad to suit the actual conditions.

The three sides to the committee decided to separately form preparatory committees in order to successfully promote the event common to the nation and regional functions.

It was agreed to hold joint events of organizations in different fields and of various circles between the north and the south for the purpose of stirring up the atmosphere of the movement for reunification among Koreans in the run-up to the above-said anniversary.

They decided to have a working-level contact at an early date to further the consultations about the venue of the event and other issues.
