Efforts for Modernization of National Economy
Pyongyang, March 11 (KCNA) -- The Ministry of Electronics Industry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has made a contribution to technical updating of various economic sectors.

Technicians of the Designing Institute of Electronics and Automation and the Institute of Electronic Goods under the ministry have opened a vista for keeping the power production going on a high rate on the basis of up-to-date science and technology.

They developed a new kind of digital excitation control device to introduce it in the Suphung Power Station and made it possible to put the operation of the newly-built power stations such as Samsu Power Station, Orangchon Power Station No.1 and Ryesonggang Youth Power Station No. 1 on a scientific basis.

They have also renewed generating equipment while reducing the number of switchboard instruments at some 20 minor power stations.

Meanwhile, they have applied latest science and technologies to equipment of the Posan Iron Works and the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex and settled technical problems arising in the ammonia production process by coal gasification at the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex.

The ministry is now focusing on technical remodeling of equipment of the Musan Mining Complex and other major industrial establishments.
