Japan Can Never Evade Responsibility to Settle Its Past Crimes

Pyongyang, March 18 (KCNA) -- Many countries of the world are now paving the way for developing new relations through reconciliation and cooperation, liquidating their inglorious past in the international relations and solving the issues left unsettled in the post-war settlement. But it is only Japan that behaves quite contrary to this international trend. Rodong Sinmun Thursday observes this in a signed article. It notes that the abnormal relations persist between the DPRK and Japan entirely because Japan is doggedly evading its responsibility to settle its past crimes, without honestly admitting and repenting of them. It cites facts to prove that the Japanese imperialists committed hideous crimes, enforcing a harsh colonial fascist rule for about half a century after illegally occupying Korea by force of arms. The article goes on: It is hard to describe in words or writings all the crimes perpetrated by the Japanese imperialists. Despite this hard fact, Japan has neither admitted nor made an apology for its past crimes though it is nearly 65 years since the defeat of the Japanese imperialists in the war. It is employing a cynical ploy to dodge its state responsibility for the crimes at any cost. This betrays Japan's despicable nature and moral vulgarity. The crimes Japan committed against the Korean people in the past can neither be covered up nor written off. It is a legal and moral obligation for Japan to redeem its past crimes. This is also required by it, concludes the article. |
