Japanese Gov't Urged to Include Korean Schools in Tuition-free Program
Pyongyang, March 21 (KCNA) -- The Liaison Council for Demanding Denuclearization and Peace in Northeast Asia and Normalization of the Relations between Japan and the DPRK, an organization in Japan, sent a letter to the authorities of the government on Feb. 28 in protest against its moves to exclude the Korean schools from the tuition-free program for senior high schools.

It is stipulated in the Japanese Constitution and the international treaty that nationality, identity and individuality of foreigners and minority should be respected in any part of the world, the council in the letter noted, saying: There is no reason for the Korean schools to be excluded from the tuition-free program as they are an institution providing the children of Korean residents in Japan with education.

It stressed that such wrong attitude as discriminating against the Korean residents, a group of the community in Japan, for no reason can never be helpful to realizing the normalization of the relations between the DPRK and Japan.

The right to be educated as wished is universal right recognized by the world, the organization said, strongly urging the government to include the Korean schools in the tuition-free program in the spirit of friendship.
