Yaoyinggou Meeting Significant for Anti-Japanese Struggle

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung held a meeting of military and political carders of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA) in Yaoyinggou, Wangqing County in the latter part of March Juche 24 (1935) and put forward a strategic policy of relinquishing the guerrilla zones and launching out the army units into wider areas. The situation of the revolution was very rigorous at that time. Owing to the cunning trick of the Japanese imperialists to split and disorganize the revolutionary ranks from within and rash acts of the left chauvinists, factionalists and flunkeyists, the guerrilla zones were suffering from a radical campaign to purge the "Minsaengdan." What was worse, the Japanese imperialists encircled ring upon ring the guerrilla zones with huge elite troops and tenaciously resorted to a "punitive operation" for eliminating all the lives in the anti-Japanese guerrilla bases. Such being the case, some people indiscreetly persisted in "defense of the guerrilla zones". Their position was as foolish as waiting for death. The President made a clear-cut analysis of the situation at the meeting and set forth detailed tasks for implementing the afore-said policy to bridge over the severe crisis and effect a new upsurge in the anti-Japanese revolution. The justness of the Yaoyinggou meeting was clearly proved through the ensuing development of the anti-Japanese national liberation struggle as a whole. After the voluntary dissolution of the guerrilla zones, the KPRA started large and small unit activities in south and north Manchuria and northern part of Korea to overshadow the enemy's numerical and technical superiorities. During the activities, the KPRA grew larger and stronger rapidly, the advance of small units and political operatives into the homeland became frequent and the flames of the revolution spread over wider regions. The President wrote in his reminiscences "With the Century" that the Yaoyinggou meeting marked a turning-point for the people's revolutionary army to switch over from strategic defense of the guerrilla zones to a new stage of strategic offensive. |
