GNP's Suppression of Religion Flayed in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 27 (KCNA) -- The Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration in south Korea issued a statement titled "Disband the Grand National Party, a dictatorial party suppressing the religious freedom" on March 23.

The statement recalled that the floor leader of the GNP, when recently meeting the director for general affairs of the Buddhist Jogye Order, threatened him by asking him "Will you allow the left-wing chief priest to stay in the present post?" against the backdrop of the on-going ceaseless suppression of religion by the "government" and the ruling party.

Worse still, the representative of the party and other heavyweights, echoing the floor leader's blustering, got undisguised in the smear campaign against the religion, the statement noted, and continued:

Heavyweights of the ruling forces including the GNP have rolled up their sleeves to intensify this campaign for the mere reason that religious organizations are opposed to the unpopular rule such as the "government's projects for improving the four big rivers."

As long as such dictatorial forces are allowed to ride roughshod, all the people cannot properly breathe, the statement declared, calling on them to inflict a shameful defeat upon the GNP in the "election to the local self-governing bodies".
