Pyongyang, March 29 (KCNA) -- A photo exhibition and a film show took place in Myanmar and film shows in Russia and Ethiopia between Mar. 17 and 23 on the occasions of the Day of the Sun and the 17th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission. Displayed in the venue of the photo exhibition were photos on the revolutionary histories and feats of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. Appreciated at the film shows were "Fireworks for a Thriving Nation", "Night of Pyongyang" and other Korean films. Speeches were made at the events. The secretary of the Yangon City Development Committee of Myanmar noted that the President is the great leader of the Korean people who embarked upon the road of revolution in his early years to defeat the Japanese imperialists and liberate the country and that under his wise leadership Korea, which suffered an eclipse on the world map in the past, turned into a socialist power, independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence. He stressed that the DPRK's cause of building a great prosperous and powerful socialist nation would surely emerge victorious as there are the solid foundations for a thriving nation laid by Kim Il Sung throughout his whole life and the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il. The manager of a gem factory in Russia said it is entirely thanks to the Songun policy pursued by Kim Jong Il that the DPRK is now confidently advancing along the road chosen by itself despite the pressure of the U.S. and other hostile forces. Under his Songun leadership the DPRK has secured the powerful war deterrent nobody dare provoke, the manager added. Speakers at the film show in Ethiopia expressed belief that the people of the DPRK would open the gate to a thriving nation in 2012 without fail under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il. |
