New School Year Begin at Branch Schools
Pyongyang, April 2 (KCNA) -- The first classes of the new school year have begun in over one thousand branch schools in different parts of the country on Thursday on the occasion of the new school year Juche 99 (2010) in the DPRK.

Newcomers were warmly welcomed by leading officials of local party and power organs and their parents.

Among the branch schools are more than 500 schools, each with less than 20 pupils.

There is a dense network of well-regulated educational institutions in the DPRK ranging from towns to remote mountainous villages and islets. All the school-age children are given an ample opportunity of learning thanks to the universal eleven-year free compulsory education.
