A military parade of the Senegalese army and a demonstration of people took place in Dakar on Sunday to celebrate the significant day of independence.

They were watched by Abdoulaye Wade, president of Senegal, personages of different circles, commanders of armed forces, tens of thousands of Dakar citizens, heads of state and government of African countries, high-level delegations, representatives of international and regional organizations and diplomatic envoys of various countries and representatives of international organizations in Senegal.
