Its participants will compete in nearly 40 events including football, basketball, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, judo, field hockey, field and track and gymnastics to be held in Pyongyang, Chongjin, Wonsan, Sariwon and other places.

Present at the opening ceremony were Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and officials concerned and sportspersons.
