Rodong Sinmun says that Kim Jong Il's election to the top post of the DPRK provided a fundamental guarantee for reliably inheriting and developing President Kim Il Sung's unique idea on state building and exploits and accomplishing the cause of the Korean revolution started in Mt. Paektu under the banner of the Juche idea and Songun.

The period during which he has led the DPRK after taking the important post as NDC chairman is an immortal revolutionary history as he has kept the lifeline of the country and the revolution and opened up a new era of building a thriving nation by dint of Songun, it says, and goes on:

Kim Jong Il's Songun revolutionary leadership is consistent with the tireless activities conducted by him to hold Kim Il Sung in high esteem as the sun of Juche and the eternal President of the DPRK and successfully accomplish the President's cause of building a thriving nation.

To the army and people of the DPRK, Kim Jong Il represents the symbol of mightiness and invincibility of Kim Il Sung's Korea and his Songun revolutionary leadership serves as the lifeblood of the country and nation.

It is thanks to his Songun leadership and the strong self-reliant defence capability that the DPRK has advanced under the banner of independence without any vacillation at the imperialist reactionaries' high-handed practices and pressure and their ceaseless aggression moves and persistent sanctions and blockade.

Minju Joson stresses that the DPRK will as ever emerge victorious and rosy future is always in store for it as it has Kim Jong Il at the head of the party, the army and the state.
