The statement noted that thanks to President Kim Il Sung's admirable ideological and theoretical activities and revolutionary practices the DPRK turned into a powerful socialist country and the socialist and anti-imperialist independent forces grew stronger in the international arena.

Kim Il Sung was a prominent leader of the Korean people and the world revolutionary people struggling for independence, it said, adding: The great exploits he performed for independence of the popular masses will shine long with the history of humankind.

The statement stressed that Kim Jong Il's election as NDC chairman of the DPRK was a historic event of weighty significance in the realization of global independence.

It expressed belief that the Songun politics of Kim Jong Il who is creditably carrying forward the revolutionary cause of Kim Il Sung would bring great victory and glory to the Korean people and the world revolutionary people.
