The venue of the festival presented a veritable sea of Kimilsungias brought into full bloom with good care by units of the Korean People's Army, the Cabinet, ministries and national institutions, working people's organizations, scientific, educational, public health and media institutions, enterprises, servicepersons, working people, school youth and children, overseas compatriots and foreign embassies and missions of international organizations including the Indonesian embassy here, friendship and solidarity organizations, enterprises, figures and members of the associations for supporting the propagation of immortal flowers of different countries.

Present at the opening ceremony were Yang Hyong Sop, Kim Ki Nam and officials of ministries, national institutions and working people's organizations, servicepersons of the Korean People's Army and working people.

On hand were a delegation of Koreans in Japan led by Nam Sung U, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, on a visit to the socialist homeland on the occasion of the Day of the Sun, delegations of overseas compatriots and overseas Koreans.

Present there on invitation were an Indonesian government cultural delegation led by Wardiyatmo, general secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Fitri Riyanti, charge d'affaires ad interim of the Indonesian embassy here, and embassy officials, Ratna Sari Dewi Sukarno, director of the Dewi Sukarno Office in Japan, who is honorary chairperson of the Society for Disseminating and Supporting Immortal Flowers, and her party, Abdoulaye Diallo, representative of the Guinean Kimilsungia Greenhouse, and other foreign guests.

An Tong Chun, minister of Culture, addressing the ceremony, said that this festival would mark a significant occasion in once again fully demonstrating the faith and will of the army and the people of the DPRK waging a dynamic struggle for the final victory in the drive for building a great prosperous and powerful nation and the accomplishment of the revolutionary cause of Juche under the experienced and tested leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

Wardiyatmo in his congratulatory speech recalled that President Sukarno made a present of newly bred rare flower to President Kim Il Sung when he was visiting Indonesia in 1965, adding that Kimilsungia became pride of the Korean people.

The participants looked round the venue of the festival.
