Stressing that President Kim Il Sung is the prominent great man without parallel in history, the statement said:

His was the life of a distinguished thinker-theoretician as he founded the guiding idea for the era of independence and showed the road ahead of the Korean people and the world progressives. It was also the life of a great statesman as he defeated the U.S. and Japanese imperialisms in one generation and turned Korea, once backward and poverty-stricken, into a powerful socialist country independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence.

Kim Il Sung enjoys boundless reverence from the Korean people and the world progressives for he brought epoch-making miracles and victories, weathering out all turns and twists and hardships of history with his firm faith and iron will.

His cause is being creditably carried forward by Genral Secretary Kim Jong Il.
