April Spring People's Art Festival Marks First-day

Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- First-day performances of the Second April Spring People's Art Festival took place at theatres here on Monday before full houses. Performances were given by the Mansudae Art Troupe and art troupes of North Phyongan, Kangwon and Ryanggang provinces at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre, the State Symphony Orchestra at the Moranbong Theatre, the Phibada Opera Troupe, art troupes of South Hwanghae and Jagang provinces and the art troupe of Koreans in Japan at the Pyongyang Grand Theatre and the Cinema and Radio Musical Company and art troupes of South and North Hamgyong and South Phyongan provinces at the Pyongyang International Cinema House. The stage of the Central Youth Hall was devoted to the State Folk Art Troupe, art troupes of North Hwanghae Province and cities of Nampho and Kaesong, art troupes of Koreans in China and the International United Confederation of Koreans and members of art squads of the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex and the Wonhwa Co-operative Farm in Phyongwon County while that of the Yun I Sang Concert Hall was dedicated to the orchestras of the Yun I Sang Music Institute and Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun Conservatory, Pyongyang Music School and the art troupe of Koreans in the U.S. Artistes of the Pyongyang Puppet Company and art troupes of North Phyongan and Jagang provinces presented puppet shows and dramas at the Ponghwa Art Theatre while those of the Pyongyang Circus and art organizations in different parts of the country performed acrobatic numbers at the Pyongyang Circus Theatre. The stage of the Cultural Hall of the Ministry of Railways was devoted to art squads of Kangwon Province, the Ministry of Capital City Construction and the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League and that of the music hall of Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun Conservatory to the itinerant art squads of the Tobacco Complex, Thaethan County and the Pyongyang Railway Bureau and that of the Hall of Women to members of itinerant art squads of Sunchon City, the Pyongyang Farm and the Taehung Youth Hero Mine. Members of art squads of the Pyongyang Underground Shop, the Phyonghwa Co-operative Farm in Kaesong City and the February 8 Vinalon Complex performed at the People's Palace of Culture and those of the Nyongbyon Silk Mill and the Pyongyang Children's Foodstuff Factory at the Central Hall of Workers. The performers enthusiastically sang of the glorious revolutionary career and immortal exploits of President Kim Il Sung whom the Korean nation acclaimed and held in high esteem for the first time in its history spanning thousands of years and successfully represented the faith and will to open a new history of prosperity in the socialist homeland under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il. Among the audiences were members of the organizing committee of the festival, working people, youth and students in the city, foreign guests and overseas compatriots. The performances go on. |
