Koreans in Japan Holds Meeting

Pyongyang, April 15 (KCNA) -- A meeting of Koreans in Japan took place at the Korean Hall of Culture in Tokyo on April 14 to commemorate the 98th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung. Attending it were officials of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) including Chief Vice-Chairman of the Central Standing Committee Ho Jong Man and Koreans in Japan including Korean youth and students. Ho Jong Man in his report said that the exploits the President performed by enabling the Koreans in Japan to lead a worthy life, demonstrating before the world their honor of being pioneers in the world movement of overseas compatriots would always go down along with the history of the country. He referred to the fact that General Secretary Kim Jong Il, a creditable successor to the noble idea and cause of the President, has wisely led the work of Chongryon in every period and at each stage. The reporter declared that the Koreans in Japan would protect Chongryon, the precious legacy of the President, to the last and consolidate it to be an organization of overseas Koreans single-mindedly united with the patriotic spirit and a powerful body of compatriots grouping broad strata of Koreans in Japan. The Koreans in Japan will turn out in a dynamic struggle for achieving national reunification under the banner of "By our nation itself," thoroughly frustrate the moves of the reactionaries against the DPRK and Chongryon and make a positive contribution to promoting the friendship between the peoples of the DPRK and Japan and implementing the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration, the reporter noted. A letter to Kim Jong Il from the Chongryon Central Standing Committee was adopted at the meeting. A lecture was given at the Korean Hall of Culture in Tokyo that day under the sponsorship of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee. The attendants listened to the recorded lecture "Our leader, the eternal benefactor of the compatriots in Japan." |
