Joint National Meeting of KCU Held
Pyongyang, April 15 (KCNA) -- A joint national meeting of the Korean Children's Union organizations was held at the plaza of the Kumsusan Memorial Palace Thursday to commemorate the 98th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

Attending there were representatives of the KCU from all provinces, schoolchildren in Pyongyang and pupils joining the KCU.

Present there on invitation were Choe Thae Bok, Yang Hyong Sop, Kim Jung Rin, Minister of Education Kim Yong Jin, leading officials of working people's organizations, officials concerned, officials of the youth league, war veterans, persons of merit and parents of pupils.

All the participants in the meeting paid tribute to the beaming image of the President with their ardent yearning and boundless reverence for him.

Ri Yong Chol, first secretary of the C.C., the youth league, said in his report that the President made sure that the rising generations stoutly grew up to be genuine successors to the Juche cause while devoting his all to the happiness of posterity. His undying feats will be everlasting, Ri added.

He referred to the fact that General Secretary Kim Jong Il has protected the happiness of the schoolchildren across the country and taken care of them with his great devotion to translate the President's desire into reality.

The KCU's admission ceremony took place at the meeting.

Led by Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea, pupils joining the KCU solemnly took their oath before the flags of the KCU.

Senior cadres, war veterans, persons of merit and officials of the youth league tied red neckerchiefs around the necks of the pupils and pinned KCU badges on their chests, congratulating them.

Then, war veteran Ri Ki Hwan, hero of the DPRK, Associate Prof. and Dr. Ju Chang Il, dean of a faculty of Kim Il Sung University, and Pae Gil Su, labor hero and people's sportsman, made congratulatory addresses.
